Aizawl district SP C Laldina said Jacob Lianhupa (40) and Vanlalliana (20) were arrested by the police last night after tracing the calls made by the duo to S. T. Khama of Electric Veng locality in Aizawl, Laldina said.
Khama was allegedly threatened over phone and text messages that he would face "dire consequences" if he did not pay Rs 20 lakh to them, the SP said.
The ZNP youth wing expelled Jacob Lianhupa, the chief organiser of the party's youth wing, for being allegedly involved in the extortion racket, party sources said.
