The incident occurred when two pedestrians were hit by a speeding car in the Chan Arorian area of the Hiranagar tehsil of the district, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Daya Ram (65) and Pushpa Devi (50) both residents of Krishanpur Kandi area of the district. The driver of the vehicle fled from the spot, police official said.
The villagers shifted the injured to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries, he said.
