Two policemen were killed today when militants attacked a checkpost in northwest Pakistan's restive Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
Two motorcyclists targeted the Darand checkpost in Barmola of Swabi District. The militants also set the checkpost on fire, police said.
Attack on security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has increased after hardline commander Mullah Fazlullah has taken charge of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), vowing revenge for the killing of the group's leader Hakimullah Mehsud in a US drone strike on November 1.
Three attacks took place on Friday in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar, killing two security personnel and injuring at least eight others.
Earlier, a hand grenade attack on a house in Bamkhel area of Swabi killed a woman and injured four people.
