The incident took place around 11.15 AM when the three robbers came on a motorbike and forced inside the diamond trader's office.
They held him at gunpoint and asked him to hand over cash and jewellery, a police official said.
There were eight employees in the office who surrounded the robbers, who suddenly opened fire in order to escape and two of the employees sustained injury in the firing.
Police are trying to ascertain identities of the accused men with the help of CCTV footage obtained from a neighbouring building.
A case has been registered at Karol Bagh Police Station and investigation is underway, the official added.
