A father-son duo who ran a travel agency here was today booked for allegedly duping a man of Rs 5.75 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.
According to a complaint lodged by Makhan Lal, a resident of Ratanpura Mohalla, the accused, Gurdev Singh and his son Balwinder, got Rs 5.75 lakh from him last year by promising to send him to Canada, police said.
After the duo failed to send him abroad, they struck a written agreement promising return the paid amount. But later they reneged and did not do the same, Lal said in his complaint to the police.
Following Makhan Lal's complaint, a case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (breach of trust) of the IPC was registered against Gurdev Singh and his son Balwinder, police said, adding the duo would be arrested soon.
