The deceased have been identified as Jasoda Bai Parihar (65) and Devika Bai Parihar (70), Barghat police station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) N L Parte said.
The two women were riding pillion on the motorcycle of Yogendra Parihar and heading for Ankiwada village when the pick-up van coming from the opposite direction hit the bike, he said.
In the collision, Yogendra Parihar was thrown on the roadside while the duo fell on the road. The women were mowed down by the van, he said, adding they died on the spot.
The bodies were handed over to their family members after post-mortem, he said.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC and the vehicle has been impounded, he added.
