U C Nahta appointed as CCI member.

The government has appointed U C Nahta as member of Competition Commission of India (CCI) for a five years.
He was a Director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
In a notification dated September 8, the ministry said, the central government appoints "Nahta as member of CCI from the date of his assumption of charge of the post for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 65 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier".
Fair trade regulator CCI consists of a Chairperson and six members. The post of one member is still vacant.
CCI is responsible for eliminating practices that have adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India.
