Uttarakhand Government today set up a committee headed by Principal Secretary (Finance) to frame policies for major sectors.
Announcing this here today, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said laying down policies will lead to transparency in governance matters.
"In the absence of well laid out policies, the policy of first come first served is being followed in the state which is not good for matters of governance," the Chief Minister said.
"Policy making for major sectors by this committee will bring about more transparency in the system," he said.
Describing the strengthening of panchayati raj institutions as one of his priorities, he said the state government is exploring ways in consultation with legal experts to stop the use of money in panchayat elections.
Replying to a question on frequent landslides in Uttarakhand during monsoon, Rawat said mapping of rain-fed water bodies will soon be done across the state.
