U'khand to set up welfare council for physically challenged

Uttarakhand government has announced to set up a welfare council and a welfare fund for the physically challenged besides increasing posts for them in non-governmental bodies.
"Our government has decided to set up a welfare council and a welfare fund for the handicapped. It has also been decided to increase posts for them in non-governmental bodies. Other ways to provide them employment are also being explored," Chief Minister Harish Rawat said at a conference here yesterday.
The CM noted that the provisions for the same will be made in the next budget.
Asking them to be mentally tough, Rawat emphasized that there were many instances wherein people suffering from physical disabilities had excelled in life by the sheer power of their will.
