Of the four recognised labour unions in UCIL, Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union, Uranium Kamgaar Union (UKU) and Jadugora Labour Union called indefinite strike from yesterday demanding implementation of wage revision agreement signed in March, UKU General Secretary Rajaram Singh said.
"We have also called the strike in support of our demand for payment of annual bonus," he said.
As the implementation of wage revision agreement was pending for approval from the ministry concerned, Singh said the management agreed to pay the bonus by October 3.
UCIL officials also confirmed that production in the UCIL units was normal after miners decided to return to work from the morning shift after the management agreed to pay the annual bonus by October 3.
