An upper division assistant (UDA) of Paschim Nalbari development block was arrested today on the charge of gross anomalies in the Central Government sponsored Indira Awas Yojana Scheme.
The UDA had reportedly siphoned off Rs 62 lakh meant for the implementation of the IAY scheme under the block areas, officials said.
Nalbari district Deputy Commissioner Dr Om Prakash after receiving complaints had ordered a magisterial enquiry into the scam, they said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Tez Prasad Bhusal had conducted the enquiry and found the UDA guilty and that was followed by Nalbari District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) project director lodging an FIR at Belsor Police station against the UDA.
The Deputy Commissioner had also checked the concerned files at the block office a few days ago, the sources added.
