UGC team to visit Cotton University

The University Grants Commission has been constituted a committee to facilitate the flow of funds to Cotton State University here and list it under Section 12B.
The UGC Committee will visit the university shortly for the purpose, said a press release by the university Registrar Prof Dilip Kumar Patgiri.
Upon receiving the UGC grants, the university will be able to create facilities to undertake research in priority areas, boosting the academic ambience of the institution, the release said.
Cotton College State University was established by an Act of the Assam government and recognised by the UGC under Section 2f in 2013, it added.
The university was set up in 2011, with the 114-year-old historic Cotton College as its constituent college.
Section 12 (B) of the UGC Act of 1956 makes the colleges eligible for central assistance from the Government of India.
