Una resident convicted under NDPS Act

Mandi Additional Sessions Judge PP Ranta today convicted one Sukvinder Singh under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Act (for possessing Charas/Cannabis) and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30000, sources said.
In case of default of the payment, the convict shall further undergo simple imprisonment of six months, they said.
The convict, a resident of Tehsil Bagana of Una district, was nabbed by a police party at Suki Bain near Pandoh of Mandi district during routine checking of a Punjab Roadways bus to Chandigarh, they said, adding, that on checking two kilogrammes of Charas was seized from him.
