A couple allegedly committed suicide after failing to get married here in Madhya Pradesh, police said today.
Rahul Pal (21) and Anita Pal (19), who were in a relationship, were found today hanging from a tree at a hilltop in Mahendra Mehwa village under Palera police station area, some 78km from the district headquarters, said Inspector Brijnandan Sharma.
Rahul Pal hailed from this district, while Anita Pal was a resident of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, which is located close to Tikamgarh, he said, adding both were relatives.
Sharma said Rahul Pal's father Gyandeen Pal bowed to his son's wish for marriage with Anita Pal and got him engaged to her some three months ago.
But a few days later, something went wrong and the marriage plan was called off, he said.
The incident is being probed, Sharma added.
