Undertrial prisoner dies due to cold in Central Jail

An undertrial prisoner died due to cold in the Central Jail here this morning, police claimed.
Haqim Singh, a resident of the Daluana under the Ranger Nangal Police Station in Batala district, was facing a charge under the Arms Act and lodged in the Central Jail here, died of cold, they said.
Singh died in the Civil Hospital where he was shifted after he complained of uneasiness because of cold, police said, adding, that his body was handed over to his relatives after a postmortem.
The state is under the grip of a severe cold wave in the last few days.
