Union Minister V Narayanasamy today took a dig at BJP for claiming that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is the "most appropriate and efficient" candidate for the Prime Minister's post.
Those who had seen the lack of facilities in Gujarat for the scheduled tribes and the have-nots would be convinced that BJP was only painting a wrong picture while projecting Modi as "appropriate candidate for the PM post," he said.
When BJP-led NDA was in power at the Centre, the rate of economic growth was poor,he claimed.
Congress-led UPA rule at the Centre during the last ten years has put the country on high pedestal and several landmark legislations including the Right to Information Act, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, National Rural Health Mission and Right to Food Security have been implemented, he said.
People would not go by claims of BJP functionaries and their projection of Narendra Modi as one fit for the PM post, he claimed.
Addressing volunteers of the Puducherry State Youth Congress, he said the Centre has drawn up a plan to set up a training centre here for upgradation of technical skills of the youth.
The centre would enable around 10,000 youths a year to undergo training and this would be of great help to ensure trained human resources for industries and small and medium enterprises here.
"Youth have been given prominent place in the Congress and the AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi is keen that the Congress fielded youth as its nominees in 50 per cent of the total Lok Sabha seats in the country in the coming Lok Sabha polls," he said.
He also criticised Chief Minister N Rangasamy for "failing the people on several counts and his failure to procure sufficient funds."
The activists staged a demonstration, criticising BJP and its claims.
