It was a different kind of an experience for the 100 participants who took part in 'I RUN' here this morning and all them who completed the 2-km run were given Rs 2,000.
The 2K run, organised by 100 For 100 Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by individuals from different walks of life, was held at GMC Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli and was flagged off by former minister and Congress legislator Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.
Shanta Dharawat, a 24-year-old orthopedically challenged private employee, said that though she wanted to take home all the money she earned through the run, she decided to give back part of it as it may be used for a cause or used for the uplift of people like her.
However, 15-year-old college student Sruti Nanduri said she wanted to throw a party for friends.
"'I RUN' is neither a race nor a charity run. We just wanted to give the experience of joy of earning through physical activity and enjoy it. If the enjoyment comes through sharing with others they can do that," foundation's chief coordinator Shancal Gir said.
Of course there is a mission and it's to promote a healthy world and a healthier soul, she said.
It was the maiden event of the foundation.
Khammam Lok Sabha member P Srinivasa Reddy presented the medals and certificates to the participants.
