University to setup digital lounge in association with CEC

The Pondicherry Universityhas inked a MoU with the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) of the UGC to meet the needs of higher education through the use of multimedia, TV and emerging information communication technologies.
The MOU would pave the way for the development of infrastructure facilities to create multimedia educational content and also provide guidance and technical support to access the institutions through digital facility.
The MOU also envisaged integration of the digital learning with conventional learning in higher education, Assistant Registrar of the university K Mahesh said in a release here.
The officiating Vice Chancellor of the University Anisa Basheer Khan and the Director of the CEC Rajbir Singh inked the MOU recently.

The CEC would provide e-resources and open educational resources.
The University would provide the infrastructure including high end server and an adequate number terminals and LAN networking to set up the digital lounge in the University's central library.
Students can access the content through their mobile phones through wireless network as well and the e-resources would be used only for academic and research purposes, the release added.
