Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revise the fixed expenditure under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) to Rs 2,600 crore for the fiscal 2015-16.
In a letter sent to the Prime Minister, Yadav said the fixed expenditure under PMGSY for the fiscal 2015-16 has been partially revised by the Centre from Rs 670 crore to Rs 737 crore on the request of the state government, an official spokesman said here today.
He said that works of Rs 2,600 crore of previous years approved under the scheme, which could not be completed timely due to limited funding from the Centre in the last three years, were to be completed in the current fiscal.
Akhilesh said that as compared to Rs 638 crore received from the Centre in the last fiscal, the state government provided Rs 200 crore from its own resources and got works worth Rs 943 crore completed, which had been adjusted from instalments from the Central assistance in the current financial year.
The CM said that as against works of Rs 1,134.54 crore approved in the financial year 2013-14 under the second phase of PMGSY, no fund has been received from the Centre so far.
Yadav also requested Modi to release an instalments of Rs 200 crore for works under PMGSY-2 at the earliest, the official spokesman added.
