As soon as the proceedings of the House started, BJP and Congress members jumped into the well, raising slogans against the SP government over the incident in Moradabad where violent protests were held in the Kanth area on July 4 over holding of a 'mahapanchayat' (meeting).
During the protest BJP leaders, including four MPs and MLA Sangeet Som, were detained. The leaders wanted to hold the 'mahapanchayt' over the removal of a loudspeaker from a religious place.
Later, when the House met again, BSP members raised the issue of "increasing" cases of crime against women in the state and came into the well raising slogans, after which the House was adjourned for 15 minutes.
After the proceedings restarted, the BSP members staged a walkout over the raising of retirement age of Chairman of Higher Education Service Commission from 65 to 68 years.
