An FIR has been registered against former minister and BSP leader Matesh Chandra Sonkar after Samajwadi Party legislator Vachaspati alleged that he threatened him over rivalry in panchayat polls, police said.
Vachaspati alleged that Chandra stopped his vehicle forcibly and threatened him of dire consequences, they said.
However, Sonkar denied the allegation saying that the MLA was using pressure tactics to win panchayat polls in which their wives were contesting against each other.
An FIR has been registered and investigation is on in the matter, police added.
