Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution C R Chaudhary said the Centre has provided adequate foodgrain to the Uttar Pradesh government for distribution among the poor people in the state.
"I want to tell to the Uttar Pradesh government that 69.6 per cent rural and 64.5 per cent urban population have to be covered. But unfortunately, all these people have not been covered yet. As of now the Uttar Pradesh government has to identify 84 lakh people whom the subsidised food will be distributed," he said during Question Hour.
"The state government has been given foodgrain regularly. There is no shortage of foodgrain. Whatever the UP government is asking, we are giving. But 84 lakh people should be covered which has not been completed. That is why we would like to request the UP government to complete the process," he said.
