Rajeswari, President of the BJP Salem and Dharmapuri district women's wing, did not eat anything after hearing about the murder of Ramesh here on Friday night, Salem Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), A Babu said.
He said she poured kerosene on her body and set herself ablaze at 11 am. She has been admitted to the government hospital here with 80 per cent burns.
Her husband is a police Sub-Inspector of Kannakurichi in the city, the DCP said, adding a case has been registered under section 309 of IPC (attempt to commit suicide).
