Wheat prices moved up 0.30 per cent to cent to Rs 1,651 per quintal in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick-up in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in August went up by Rs 5, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,651 per quintal with an open interest of 12,670 lots.
Similarly, wheat for delivery in July contract edged up by Rs 4, or 0.25 per cent to Rs 1,629 per quintal in 15,280 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by traders following uptick in demand from flour mills at the spot market, mainly led to rise in wheat prices in futures trade.
