However, masoor met with resistance and shed some ground.
Traders said besides the pick-up in demand, restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in urad and arhar prices.
Meanwhile, the first tranche of 1,792 tonnes of imported tur dal arrived last week, the first import of pulses by the government in about last four years, which will help boost domestic supplies and check rising retail prices.
The first consignment of urad dal will reach the country by October 20.
Urad dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and edged higher by a similar margin to Rs 10,800-11,400 and Rs 11,200-11,500 per quintal respectively.
Arhar and its dal dara variety followed suit and moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 10,100-10,300 and Rs 11,700-11,800 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, masoor small and bold fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,200-7,000 each per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded lower by the same margin to Rs 7400-7500 and Rs 7500-7600 per quintal.
