"Afterthe terror arrack,Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mufti had held urgent consultations and decided to convene an emergency security review meeting later in the day," a spokesman of the Raj Bhavan said.
The Governor observed that in the background of the Poonch and Uri terror attacks, it was of crucial importance to enhance surveillance on the security of all vital civil and military establishments in the state.
During the discussions, officers of the army, security forces and the state police reported the actions already taken and those underway for safeguarding important establishments and vital installations.
The Governor and the Chief Minister stressed the need for cohesive action for enforcing a constant vigil on the frontiers, stepping up counter-terrorism operations and effectively maintaining internal security.
The meeting also discussed various important issues relating to the effective enforcement of the counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism grids along the IB and LoC in the Jammu and Kashmir regions.
"Continued cohesive action by all the security forces in close concert with the civil administration was stressed for securing early restoration of public order," the spokesman said.
The Governor and the Chief Minister also appealed to the people of state to maintain sustained vigilance to avert any fresh attempt by inimical elements to disturb the security environment in the Kashmir Valley.
