The US and China have agreed on the fundamental importance of a denuclearized North Korea, a senior US official said following a meeting between the two sides.
"The United States and China agree on the fundamental importance of a denuclearized North Korea," State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said.
US Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies had productive discussions on North Korea on Monday with the Chinese Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei, Psaki said.
Wu's visit is part of a series of high-level, in-depth US-China discussions on how to achieve their shared goal of a denuclearized North Korea in a peaceful manner, she said.
The two diplomats would continue their discussion, she added.
