US-made pistol seized from militant hideout

Army jawans raided a hide-out of a militant group and seized arms and ammunition including a US-made pistol from Manipur's Churachandpur district, officials said here today.
Acting swiftly on specific information regarding the presence of Zou Defence Volunteers (ZDV) cadres in a house in New Zou Veng area, troops of Red Shield Division launched an operation to nab the cadres on Monday.
While the suspected cadres deserted the house before the security forces could reach, a thorough search of the house and surrounding areas ensured recovery of a US-made 9mm pistol with magazine, two rounds of live ammunition and one extortion book of ZDV, officials said.
