Matthew Wikry, a computer lecturer by profession, who was going from Delhi to Jaipur by train late last night, was made to alight from the train at Rewari station by two co-passengers who fraudulently told him that it was Jaipur station, police said today.
When Matthew and the two co-passengers came out of the station, the duo, apparently to loot the American lecturer, attacked him violently and injured him, they said.
While the duo fled, some passersby, who heard Matthew's cries, came to his rescue, got him admitted to a local civil hospital where he was medically examined this morning.
While Matthew went to Jaipur by the evening train today, a police official said they were still clueless about the offenders.
