Police said that Ajitha lodged a complaint against her husband Ranganathan and his family alleging that they were torturing her to bring more money as dowry.
She said her parents had alreday given Rs two lakh and 20 sovereign of jewellery as dowry when she got married. However her husband and brothers started harassing her soon after to bring more jewellery.
As she refused to do so, the brothers started abusing her. Ranganathan went one step further and sought a divorce.
