The urn containing the ashes of late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee reached Odisha today and will be immersed in the Bay of Bengal in Puri tomorrow, party sources said.
State BJP President Basant Panda returned to Bhubaneswar with the asthi kalash (urn) this evening. He had received the urn from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi earlier today, the sources said.
The urn is kept at the BJP state headquarters here to allow the people to pay their tribute to the late leader, said BJP leader Prithiviraj Harichandan.
Harichandan said the urn containing the ashes will be taken to Puri in a procession from Bhubaneswar.
BJP has also planned an all party meeting on August 24 here in Vajpayee's memory, BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said.
