Valparai receives copious rains, holiday declared for schools

: Valparai hill station has been receiving copious rainfall in the last two days, following which the district administration declared a holiday for all educational institutions today.
The rains, which started lashing several parts of the district, damaging three houses, were moderate to heavy in Valparai since yesterday morning, prompting the administration to declare holiday to school and colleges in the area today.
The Water level in the Sholayar Dam increased by 10 feet and the level of the 160-foot dam stood at 82 feet, official sources said.
Though there was some respite from the rains last night, it started pouring again from early this morning, they said.

The city and suburbs also received good rains yesterday and similar weather is expected to continue for the rest of the day, they added.
