The incident took place around 9.30 pm last night when the shop was closed, they said.
The owner had gone home after the day's work, when unifentified persons broke open the shutters of the shop and looted the valuables, they said.
The local police appeared on the scene after a local resident informed them over phone.
Police have registered a case under IPC sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the IPC.
