Continuing with her sparkling form, Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor grabbed the sole lead after managing a par 72 in the the second round of the fifth leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour, here today.
Overnight joint leader Vani is now two shots clear of Shweta Galande at the ITC, Classic Golf Resort.
Ankita Tiwana, who was joint first after day one slipped to fifth position after a dismal performance in the second round with a score of 7 over 79.
Vani showed why she has been such a revelation this season as she returned with the only par score of the day. After a not so impressive front nine, where she conceded two bogeys on the fifth and ninth, Vani made her way back with a strong performance in the back nine, putting two birdies on the 11th and 18th holes.
She finished day two with a total score of 142. Shweta Galande, who had finished tied third after day one, played a steady round of one over 73 and ended round two at second position with a total score of 144.
She sank four birdies on the fourth, 12th, 13th and 15th holes but also had six bogeys on the first, fifth, sixth, eighth, 14th and 16th holes.
Vaishavi Sinha retained her third spot with a second round score of two over 74 and a total of 145 after round two. Lying at fourth place is Saaniya Sharma, who returned with a second round score of two over 74 and a total score of 146.
