Eighteen activists of the youth wing of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) were arrested here today for attempting to detain a Kerala state-owned bus over reported dismissal of Tamil teachers in that state.
Protesting against the reported dismissal of 730 temporary Tamil teachers in different schools in Kerala, they squatted in front of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus in Ukkadam in the city, police said.
The agitators demanded immediate reinstatement of the teachers and regularisation of their jobs.
