Venison, weapons seized from poacher

Two country-made guns and 70 kg of venison have been seized from a poacher at Bodhmalai in Burgur forest area in the district, officials said.
The 45-year-old accused, who has been arrested, is one among a nine-member poacher gang, who entered the forest yesterday to hunt for deer, forest department officials said.
The officials raided the area on a tip off and spotted the gang moving around with gunny bags. They gave a chase and nabbed one of the poachers.
The others fled from the spot, leaving behind the gunny bags, with some tools in it. Two axes were also recovered from the area, the officials said.

The man on being questioned admitted that the gang had killed the deer.
A search operation is on to nab others, they said.
