The nine upgraded centres are at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai (North), New Delhi and one centre in Kathmandu, Nepal, a company statement said.
Besides, new centres are also planned in Jalandhar, Mumbai (South) and Pune, it said.
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australia, and VFS Global have agreed to provide visa application services through three new and 10 upgraded Australian Visa Application Centres in the country.
"For the first time in history, our High Commission in New Delhi issued more than 1,00,000 tourist visas to Indians in a single financial year, with numbers increasing by 10 per cent in first three months of this year," Mark Pierce, Australian Consul General, Mumbai, said.
"...We are sure this will go a long way in forging a long-standing partnership with VFS Global", he said.
VFS Global has 1,226 visa application centres in 111 countries across five continents, the release added.
