VHP functionary meditates at cremation ground to have darshan

Authorities went into a tizzy after a local VHP functionary decided to meditate in a 10-feet deep pit at a cremation ground near here in order to have a darshan of Lord Shiva.
VHP town secretary Muthukrishnan began his meditation on August 2, police said, adding he ended it yesterday after they intervened.
Muthukrishnan, however, told his supporters he would observe it at some other place.
He claimed he had the "darshan of goddess Parvathi".
Police said they were informed of it by the people in the area who got panicky that he might fall unconscious because of meditation without food.

He had kept a shiv linga and some lemon fruits in front of him while he meditated, they added.
