VHP meet to focus on cow slaughter ban, common code

A three-day national conclave of Vishwa Hindu Parishad will begin here tomorrow, wherein resolutions demanding a countrywide ban on slaughter of cows and for adopting uniform civil code are expected to be passed.
"Presently, there is no uniform national law to ban the slaughter of cows. States have their own laws. VHP is insisting on a stricter national law. Similarly, resolution for (adopting) UCC will be adopted during VHP Prabandh Samiti (Management Committee) and Pranyasi Mandal (Board of Trustees) meeting starting Thursday," VHP International Secretary Champat Rai said at a press conference.
When asked about the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said, "We want complete land. It's not the case of partition of property. The concerned petition (in Allahabad HC) was not for partition (of disputed site equally among the Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla). The HC had held this land is the birth place of Lord Rama. VHP is for entire land."

Around 300 VHP functionaries from country and abroad are expected to attend the annual conclave. Nagpur is hosting the meeting after a gap of 32 years.
