Bhuna Naib Tehsildar J R Garg allegedly demanded Rs40,000 from Gurpreet Kaur of village Saniyana in the district for making entries in the revenue record, a bureau spokesman said here.
She gave the amount to him and simultaneously complained to the vigilance following which the money was recovered from the drawer of the official's table, the spokesman said adding that he was arrested on graft charges.
In a separate case, on the complaint of Manohar Lal, vigilance sleuths caught Executive Engineer Rakesh Sharma of Sirsa Public Health department, and recovered Rs 15,000 from him which he had allegedly taken from the complainant for passing a bill of generator, the vigilance said.
