The Vigilance Investigation Bureau caught one Shambhu Kumar, an accountant in MNREGA office posted at Sadar block in Darbhanga district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 for payment of wages to the MNREGA labourers in their bank accounts.
One Irshad Alam, a resident of Sundarpur village under Sadar block in Darbhanga district had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance department that the accountant with MNREGA office at the block was demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 for making payment of wages to the MNREGA labourers, the release said.
A flying squad team was constituted under Deputy Superintendent of Police, Maharaja Kanishk Kumar and team raided and caught Shambhu Kumar red-handed.
Altogether 17 persons have been arrested in 15 trap cases laid by the Bureau so far in 2017.
