A member of Village Defence Committee (VDC) was killed in accidental fire by his uncle in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
VDC member Bir Singh and his Uncle Tirath Singh had gone to forest area in Chimthan-Pogal Paristhan in Banihal tehsil of Ramban district yesterday, police officials said.
A bear tried to attack them forcing Tirath Singh to fire on bear but bullet accidentally hit Bir Singh which resulted into his death, they said.
Police has registered a case and the body has been handed over to family for last rites, they said adding that further investigation is on.
