Villagers clash with IRB personnel after girl molested

A girl was allegedly molested by a jawan of an India Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Manikchak in Malda district after which villagers clashed with the IRB personnel today but there was no report of any injury, police said.
IRB personnel on poll duty had been put up at N B High Madrassa in Manikchak where villagers generally go to fetch water.
A girl who had gone to fetch water was allegedly molested by a jawan.
After hearing about the incident, villagers raided the IRB camp at N B High Madrassa and attacked the IRB personnel with stone and bricks, the sources said.

The jawans retaliated and the clash between the two groups continued for around two hours, till police personnel from Manikchak police station rushed to the area and brought the situation under control.
Police claimed that nobody was injured in the clash. The situation in the area was tense but under control.
