Deputy Inspector General of Police (Northern Range) Zorammuana told PTI that 100 armed policemen were sent to the Selam village along Mizoram-Manipur border to nab suspected arsonists who had allegedly set aflame a truck belonging to the state Environment and Forests department on Friday.
As the ten were being taken away by the police, a group of villagers including women and children, blocked the road prompting the cops to fire teargas shells, Zorammuana said.
No injury or casualty was reported, the officer said.
Villagers of Selam had torched the Environment and Forest department's mini truck on Friday after a scuffle between them and the officials.
