Singh, who had hinted to resign as HPCC chief immediately after taking over as Chief Minister, has sent his resignation to party high command, AICC General Secretary and incharge of party affairs for Himachal Pradesh, Birender Singh said.
In keeping with the "one man one post" principle, his resignation was a natural corollary after assuming the office of Chief Minister for the sixth time.
Virbhadra has remained HPCC chief thrice but this time his tenure was the shortest, just four months.
He had taken over as HPCC chief on August 29 this year replacing Kaul Singh Thakur and search for new president has begun after the resignation of Singh.
