CPI(M) veteran and Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan today met Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, seeking to initiate criminal proceedings against certain UDF MLAs who had allegedly misbehaved with LDF women members in the House during the violence in the Assembly on March 13.
Five LDF women MLAs, who sought action against the UDF members, Jameela Prakasam, E S Bijimol, Aysha Potti, K K Lathika, K S Saleekha, also accompanied Achuthanandan to meet the Governor.
Later talking to reporters, the CPI(M) leader said the Governor had assured them that necessary would be taken.
Achuthanandan said he requested the Governor to take action against the MLAs who allegedly insulted the MLAs inside and outside the House.
Attacking Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, for alleging that the women MLAs were used as 'human shields', the nongenarian leader said the remark was most unfortunate.
Justifying the LDF agitation against Finance Minister K M Mani, he said there was nothing wrong in launching a stir against a government "which is corrupt to the core."
"The dignity of the House had been tarnished and Chandy and Mani had inflicted the most unreasonable slur in the history of state legislature," he said.
Meanwhile, the women MLAs also submitted complaints to Director General of Police, K S Balasubramaniyam, on the alleged 'offensive' behaviour of some ruling MLAs-- K Sivadasan Nair, M A Wahid, A T George and Dominic Presentation.
