The app 'Sahayogi' is developed with the state-of-the-art technology based on Android mobile platform for the 1.6 crore customer of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).
Apart from paying bills, the mobile application will also help customers to apply for new connection.
"Low and medium voltage domestic, commercial and industrial consumers who wish to get new connection can apply for the same through this module. They can download quotation and make payments for the same and can check the status of their application," a senior officer of the state government said.
The key feature of the mobile application is that it is multilingual and will be available in three languages - English, Bengali and Hindi, he said.
Besides, consumers will be able to register their mobile numbers against their consumer numbers and will also be able to register complaints using this application.
Any complaints regarding power outage and quality as well as issues related to the billing can be made through Sahayogi. A docket number will be generated and sent to the registered mobile number through the system and the consumer will also be able to check its status, the officer elaborated.
