The West Bengal Congress unit Monday kicked off its month-long protest programme against TMC government over issues like worsening law and order situation, farmers distress and unemployment in the state.

Led by Bengal Congress president Somen Mitra Monday, the party organissed protest at Barasat area of North 24 Parganas district.

Carrying placards against the Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the state government protesters shouted slogans against the TMC government.

"We will continue our fight against the worsening law and order situation in the state. The number of unemployed youths have increased by leaps and bounds in the state under the TMC regime. The farmers are facing a tough situation in getting prices for their produce," Mitra said.

Around thousand Congress activists were detained by the police when they tried to break the police barricade. They were later on released.
