"We will open two more such laboratories at Siliguri and Burdwan to cater to north Bengal and junglemahal area. And, the lab here will also cater surrounding areas and other states," Food Supplies Minister Jyotipriyo Mullick said after the inauguration.
"Earlier for testing food quality we had to send the samples to Hyderabad and it took two months for the final report. But in our state of the art laboratory you will get the report within two hours," said Mullick.
The department was also mulling the idea of creation of 16 mini laboratories in districts.
