"We respect the court and whatever they have said", was the terse response of Congress to the acquittal of its leader Sajjan Kumar by a court here in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
"The court has taken a decision and acquitted Sajjan Kumar and we don't want to comment on that. We respect the court and whatever they have said," was the brief response of Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowhdary at the AICC briefing.
She added Congress respects the decision of all courts and does not comment on them and the same applies in this case.
Sajjan Kumar was today acquitted of all charges by a Delhi court in one of the three 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases, a verdict that evoked vociferous protests from victims' families, one of whom hurled a shoe at the judge.
